In 2003, the project that would come to define itself as we know it today was born – Adorna. At Adorna, photography is approached in a contemporary and eclectic manner. The various facets a project can represent are taken into account, without limits or censorship. In this space, photography is understood as multidisciplinary in both form and motivation. Six exhibitions are organized each year, with the main goal of fostering and enabling encounters, intersections, exchanges, and recognition of contemporary photographic practice. The gallery is directed by Estefânia r. de Almeida, who curates most of the exhibitions.

Estefânia r. de Almeida was born in Paris in 1973 and has lived in Portugal since 1992. Passionate about photography, she became a collector in her teenage years. This passion led her to deepen her knowledge of the subject, and later, she decided to open to the public an exhibition space that now hosts both national and international photographers, some of whom are already part of the history of photographic art. Her goal has always been to offer a wide audience works that represent aesthetic and intellectual value, with contemporary relevance.
